1. How long does the league run?
The 2024 season will start September 15th and run until March 2nd, 2025. The year end tourneyment will be held March 8th and 9th, 2025.
2. How much does it cost to enter a team?
Team fees are usually around $1400 depending on how many weeks of play are in the season. We accept payment in the form of e-transfer, cheque, bank draft, money order, and if necessary cash as well.
3. When are league fees due?
Fees will be due on July 15th. Any teams that have not paid by this date will forfeit their spot in the league and the league will open up a spot to the next team according to the order outlined in the bylaws.
4. What days of the week does the league run?
The league is played on Sundays between 9am and 9pm. Each team plays 2 games and minor officiates one game in a 3 hour time slot.
5. For co-ed, how many females must be on the court?
For co-ed the minimum amount of females allowed on the court is 3. There can be 3 females/3 males, 4 females/2 males or 5 females/1 male.
6. What is the deadline to register a team?
SAVA starts to accept teams at the AGM (Annual General Meeting) that is generally hosted at the end of March, beginning of April. The date, time and location are posted on the website a few weeks before the meeting. The best chance to get a team into the league is to attend the AGM and be one of the first to arrive to be put on the waiting list. Teams can be added to the waiting list from the AGM (March/April) until the teams are set for the season. Teams are still encouraged to contact the league if interested for the following year so they can be contacted with important information to increase their chances to be added to the league the following year.

7. Can I join the league without a team?
There are two options to join the league without a team.
i) Players looking for teams: Players can post their contact details and any additional information to improve their chances to be picked up by a team. The more information (level preferred, volleyball experience, etc.) helps to increase your chance to be picked up by a team.
ii) Sub List: This option is ideal for players that cannot commit full time to a team, but still want to play volleyball. It’s also a good option for players looking to find a team. It is a chance to play with different teams and potentially get picked up by a team. If you play with the team, they can decide if they like playing with you and you can decide if you like playing with them without having to commit to that team’s roster. To sign up, click on the Registration tab, and fill in the form "Register as a Sub 24/25" once registration has opened in early September. If there is no sublist form under the registration tab, it has not been created yet.
8. What is the sub list?
The sub list is a pool of players that are available to play co-ed and/or women’s. Women can sign up for both co-ed and women’s when creating their sub list profile. Women already on a co-ed roster have the option to join the sub list for the women’s league and vice versa (females on a women’s roster may join the sub list for the co-ed league).
The players on the sub list can play for multiple teams each week and multiple teams for the duration of the regular season. It allows a player to play for multiple teams without having to commit to one team. It increases the chances for a player to find a team that fits their skill level.

10. What constitutes a permit?
A permit is a player already on a roster in the same league (coed or women’s) who plays on another team in their division or higher (i.e. if you are on a Coed B roster, you can permit for B or A, but cannot permit for C or D). As per the bylaws, teams are allowed a maximum of 2 permits per game. All other players must come from their roster or the sublist.
